Module 4: Teaching Writing
Popplet (free version)
Popplet is a simple, content free tool that has a lot of uses. It's immediate use is as a brainstorming tool, but it can also help students plan organize a piece of writing, create timelines, make vocabulary word maps, integrate video, sound, graphics, and illustrations, and provide a color-coded, visual representation of a story or article.
The Popplet web page says:
"Used as a mind-map, Popplet helps students think and learn visually. Students can capture facts, thoughts, and images and learn to create relationships between them".
Other creative uses include outlining a reading, creating timelines, and making vocabulary word waps. It's an incredibly versatile tool.
